Netbooks, Netbooks, Netbooks! Great for Campus!

I believe that by 2011 UCI Students and basically all college students will be more aware of netbooks.  By 2012, studnets all across campus will probably even see their own classmates with one. By 2015, I believe that having a netbook will be the norm when leaving the home and entereing a college campus.

As of the beginning of last year, there have been a lot of developments going on around with a new line of computers called Netbooks.  Asus first introduced the EEE Pc. Acer then came out with their Aspire One. MSi revealed the Wind.  HP their MiniNote. Then Dell introduced their Mini9.  These new netbooks are revolutionizing portable laptop technology all around the world.  I bought myself an EEE Pc from Asus but I think I bought itt at the wrong time. Since then, all these other great computer have come out and I am stuck with buyer’s regret.

Now, a netbook isn’t supposed to be seen as something that will replace your primary laptop or your desktop computer.  These netbooks, usually with a screen size of 10.1″ or lower are meant to be used for surfing the web, or checking your e-mail; basically lightweight things in comparison to things like videoediting and hardcore videogaming. The first generation of netbooks first came out with linux as their operating system but as other main manufacturers like dell and hp started to make their own netbooks, the industry has started to see netbooks installed with Windows XP Home/Professional as their operating system.  This is ideal because most netbooks come installed with 1GB of ram or higher which allow Windows XP or linux to run smoothly as ever on a miniature laptop.

I really wish that I have waited to buy my netbook.  Because from what I’ve seen, Samsung even introduced their own netbook, the NC10.  Equipped with a 14gb Solid State Drive, and priced at a reasonable 477$, this laptop would be ideal to bring around campus.  As always, as you being to look at netbooks, make sure to research all of them because now that it’s 2009, choices for netbooks are increasing and there are many more developments which are increasing in this line of technology.

So anteaters, if you’re a poor college student like me and you hate having to lug around a huge 15.4″ monitor,  stop straining your back, and get yourself a new, compact and lightweight netbook.
